Points For Kawasaki Riders In Race Two

Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) finished in 13th place, just one position behind Adrian Huertas (MTM Kawasaki), as he took part in the second Barcelona-Catalunya WorldSSP race of the weekend.

Riding in place of the injured regular Kawasaki Puccetti Racing rider Can Öncü at this round, Mahias followed up his 16th place from Race One on Saturday with a points scoring 13th on Sunday.

Out of WorldSSP action for over two years, Mahias found some set-up improvements in the hotly contested second 18-lap race at the modern classic Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. He was pleased to get points on the board after just missing on the first day of race action.

Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing), stated: “I’m pleased with how Race Two went, particularly in terms of my pace which remained pretty consistent. I hadn’t raced in WorldSSP for a few years, but I made a lot of progress over these three days, then finding good feeling with the bike today. I really struggled in qualifying and had to start the races from further back on the grid, otherwise I’d have been able to score better results. But I’ll settle for today’s three points. I want to thank the whole team, Manuel Puccetti and Kawasaki for having given me this great opportunity.”

With Huertas 12th and Mahias 13th there was a three rider Kawasaki group of riders in the Race Two midfield, as Tom Booth-Amos (Motozoo ME AIR Racing Kawasaki) placed 14th, scoring two more championship points.

Yuta Okaya (Prodina Kawasaki Racing) placed 21st in the second Barcelona race, with Luke Power (Motozoo ME AIR Racing Kawasaki) 26th. John McPhee (Vince64 by Puccetti Racing Kawasaki) fell at turn Nine in the midpoint of the second race and no-scored.

The fifth round of the championship takes place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, between 2-4 June.
