The hot temperatures and heavily undulating circuit, complete with its many blind corner entries, proved a very tough test of Can’s still-recovering left arm. His task was made all the more difficult when he was penalised for making a jump start.

Can had been as high up the Race Two order as eighth on his Ninja ZX-6R machine but having to serve not one but two long lap penalties, dropped him back to 19th at one stage. He fought back and demonstrated his improving pace, ending up a battling 15th. Can is 14th in the championship rankings after missing several 2023 races while he was injured.

Next up for Öncü and his rivals will be the final round of the 2023 season, to be held at Jerez de La Frontera in Spain, between 27-29 October.

Can Öncü, stated: “I don’t know whether to be happy with my recovery and the point I scored or angry for the two penalties they gave me, which prevented me from scoring a good result. I didn’t even realise that I’d made a jump start. After carrying out the double long lap penalty, I was only thinking about making up as many places as possible. I was able to reach the points zone. The positive thing is that I’m continuing to improve physically and my feeling with the bike is improving too. Thanks to the team as everyone’s done a great job.”

Adrian Huertas (MTM Kawasaki) found misfortune in Race Two and fell while fighting in a strong seventh position.

Luke Power (Motozoo ME AIR Racing Kawasaki) was 18th after his team-mate Tom Booth-Amos (Motozoo ME AIR Racing Kawasaki) retired early in the race with a technical issue. Yuta Okaya (Prodina Kawasaki Racing) placed 25th after 17 punishing laps.
 
Leonardo Taccini (Vince64 by Puccetti Racing Kawasaki) was unable to ride on Sunday after experiencing a drop in physical strength and stamina before the race began.
