Roan van de Moosdijk moves closer to the European title

Roan van de Moosdijk of the F&H Racing Team took another step towards clinching the FIM European EMX250 Motocross Championship for Kawasaki as he extended his points lead at Uddevalla in Sweden today.

The Dutch teenager immediately stamped his authority on the final round of the series by topping Qualifying practice by nearly half a second with both of his title rivals a further second back and he showed great composure when another rider nearly pushed him off the track at the long sweeping first turn of today's first moto to emerge sixth and soon make a series of smart passes on the tricky track. Within ten minutes he was third and four laps from the end of the twenty-five-minute-plus-two-lap race he moved into a secure second place behind the race-long leader who presented no danger to his title ambitions. Roan now enters the final race of the series tomorrow with a thirteen point lead over his closest rival in the championship chase and a top-nine finish will be sufficient to secure gold even if his chaser can win the final showdown. Kawasaki continues to lead the Manufacturers' standings.

Roan van de Moosdijk: “I had the fastest time in the timed practice session so I was confident before the first race today. I got a good start but went a little bit to the outside in the first corner and came out ninth. From there I just controlled my race; I didn’t rush because I didn’t want to make any mistakes but when I came to third I took a stone on my fingernail and that was painful; it was difficult to make the pass for second with the pain but I managed it in the end to finish second in front of my rivals for the title.”
