Livia Lancelot moves closer to the World Title

Livia Lancelot of Team One One Four Kawasaki took a vital step towards the FIM World WMX Women Motocross Championship when she defeated all of her title rivals at the penultimate round of the series.

The French girl took a terrible start and never found her rhythm during the first moto on Saturday afternoon at Frauenfeld in northern Switzerland; she could only salvage fourth place, but she regrouped overnight to dominate the second moto after passing her most serious rival for the title on the second lap. On the combined result of the two races she finished second overall for the weekend but significantly increased her points lead by three points over her sole remaining title rival and thus takes a twenty-seven point lead to the series finale in three weeks' time.

Livia Lancelot: “It was a good weekend, or at least a good Sunday with this moto win! I got a good start in the second race, and took the lead after a few laps; Nancy (Van De Ven) passed me at the start of the race but I watched her lines and passed her back to win this race. It was good to win as yesterday I had a very bad race. My start was a disaster, and my riding was not good at all; I talked a lot with my staff in the evening, and I was another girl on Sunday. Now I’m leading the series by twenty-seven points, that's the equivalent of more than one race, and now I will go training in the sand to prepare for the final round of the series.”
